Traffic Architect Traffic-Light Timing & Phase Resets

November 3, 2026 · Demo hotfix/1.0.8 history; full 1.1.0 load fix

The short answer

If Traffic Architect traffic-light settings seem to reset, first match the trigger to the version. The official 1.0.8 recap says the two 1.0.7 hotfixes preserve green times, custom phases and phase order when adding turn lanes, upgrading roads or connecting a road. 1.0.8 adds preservation for a receiving lane next to a turn lane. Full 1.1.0 separately fixes demand-responsive car limits after loading a save.

Record what changed before changing it again

  1. Identify whether you are running the Demo or full game, and record the displayed version.
  2. Inspect the affected junction’s traffic-light panel. Distinguish its green durations, custom phases, phase order and demand-responsive limits.
  3. Record the state before the triggering action: road upgrade, turn-lane edit, receiving-lane addition, new-road connection or save reload.
  4. Compare that same junction after the action. A different phase order is not the same symptom as an unchanged phase with a different duration.

This gives you a reproducible case and avoids reconstructing an entire signal plan merely because an older discussion said every edit resets it.

Use the version and trigger together

Trigger or reportPublished evidenceHow to interpret it
Upgrade or add a turn lane; green time/custom plan/order changesOctober 28 player report. The developer replied that it should be fixed; the October 29 1.0.8 notes explicitly recap preservation in two 1.0.7 hotfixes. An old symptom with a later stated fix, not a permanent rule for every current build.
Connect a new roadThe same official hotfix recap includes green times, custom phases and order.Record an exact current reproduction if they still change.
Add a receiving lane beside a turn lane1.0.8 specifically preserves custom phases.Separate this more specific case from the earlier edit triggers.
Reload, then demand-responsive car limits differFull 1.1.0 says these limits had been mixed up after loading and are fixed.A load-related limit issue; not proof all green durations or phase orders reset.

The hotfixes were originally announced on Discord, but their relevant changes are reprinted in the official 1.0.8 post. We read that official recap, not the Discord announcements. It does not identify an exact installed build for your save.

If it still happens on your current installation

  1. Let Steam finish the available update, then confirm which product and version you launched. The full game’s 1.1.0 release does not by itself prove the Demo changed to that version.
  2. Keep the original save and record the affected junction’s green times, phase definitions and order before editing.
  3. Repeat the smallest single trigger once and compare the same fields. For a reload issue, record the demand-responsive limits before and after the reload instead.
  4. If the mismatch remains, report the version, Demo/full distinction, operating system, save, before/after screenshots and exact trigger to the developer.

Do not describe your new report as already fixed merely because a patch promised a related change. Equally, do not keep telling updated players that losing every custom phase is expected behavior.

Changing a signal is different from banning a turn

A green duration controls when a permitted movement can run; a turn ban decides whether that movement is allowed. Adding a physical turn lane changes road geometry again. Use the turn-control distinction before rebuilding a timing plan to address a forbidden route.

The 1.0.7 notes say new lights receive a green duration suited to the road, and dedicated turn phases display left/right arrows. They do not supply one optimum duration for every junction. The earlier patch also says routing considers signal red time, so timing changes can alter traffic’s route choice.

What about synchronizing several traffic lights?

The November 2 developer response to the chained-lights request says it is on the list; the original thread was freshly reread November 3. The full 1.1.0 announcement does not establish a released linking procedure. These sources support a single-junction version check; they do not support instructions for a coordinated green wave.

You have resolved the diagnosis when you can identify the exact field, trigger and version involved, then either confirm the stated preservation or provide a small current reproduction. This page does not certify a city-wide timing plan or promise that a single update resolves every signal problem.
