Traffic Architect Lane Connections & Connector Controls
To set individual lane connections in Traffic Architect, open Turn Restrictions, select a junction and drag lines from an incoming lane to the outgoing lane it should reach. This changes lane destinations rather than adding a physical turn lane. Inspect the complete junction plan and commit it; since 1.0.7, leaving the connector asks you to Apply or Discard the pending work.

When you need individual lane connections
Use the connector when the question is “which outgoing lane can this incoming lane reach?” If you only want the junction-wide left/U-turn ban, the combined ban action is the more direct documented operation. If you need more physical space at a road end, that is a turn-lane edit instead.
This distinction matters when a car appears to have a road ahead but its lane has no permitted connection to the needed exit. A physical road connection alone does not describe its lane-level routing rules.
Select the junction, then connect its lanes
- Pause while planning if you want to inspect the junction without the simulation continuing.
- Open the Turn Restrictions button and click the intended junction.
- Identify the incoming lane and intended outgoing lane. In 1.0.7, clicking an existing connection line selects its lane.
- Drag lane-to-lane lines for the connections you want, as documented in the connector’s introduction.
- Inspect the complete shown set of connections, including other lanes that still need an exit. Do not assume drawing an extra line automatically removed an unwanted older connection.
- Apply the intended work. If you leave the connector and see Apply/Discard, make that choice explicitly rather than assuming the draft was saved.
- Reopen the same junction and check the resulting connections before moving on to another one.
The sources establish the entry point and drag operation. They do not establish a universal delete-line hotkey, modifier combination or current full-version screen layout, so those are not guessed here.
If the lines or panel are hard to use
- A bridge or ramp seems to have no connector lines: 1.0.6 specifically fixes showing connector lines on ramps and bridges. Check the product/version before treating an older visibility issue as a permanent limit.
- The panel covers your target: 1.0.7 allows the traffic-light, sign and turn-ban panels to be dragged by their title. Double-clicking the title returns them. That is a panel-position operation, not a reset of the junction rules.
- A roundabout reset seems lost after an upgrade: 1.0.6 states that a roundabout reset in the connector stays reset after a road upgrade. Record an exact current reproduction if it does not.
Check bans before resetting the junction
Reset junction is broader than closing or discarding an uncommitted draft. In 1.0.8 it also removes the junction’s turn bans. Record rules you intend to keep before using it. A physical median or extra road lane is a separate road-design choice; this guide does not promise that a connector reset rebuilds road geometry.
Check access after the lane plan changes
If the change leaves a destination unreachable, return to that junction’s connections and restrictions rather than resetting the entire network first. The No Route diagnosis explains the newer destination-specific warning and the older district route view. A timing change belongs to the traffic-light version checks, not to this lane-destination operation.
You have finished when the intended junction retains the lane connections you applied, other required exits remain available, and leaving/reopening the editor does not leave the result as an uncommitted draft. This is a connector task, not a guarantee of optimal traffic flow.
