Troubleshooting
Traffic Architect District Overload, Helpers & Difficulty
A Traffic Architect district can end the run if its waiting cars remain over capacity. Read the overload reason and pause to inspect its routes. The developer describes temporary car-spawn relief and Money Credit on Easy and Medium, with no such helpers on Hard. These buy room to act; they do not repair the road network. For building without losing, Creative mode is confirmed in the full 1.1.0 release.

When the overload countdown is running
- Read the affected district and the warning’s reason. Demo 1.0.6 added reason-specific warnings; do not assume every full parking area means the same problem.
- Pause before making changes. In 1.0.8, a building near the end of its countdown pauses the game once; Settings can disable that assistance. It is time to react, not a countdown reset or rescue guarantee.
- Use Info on that district to see incoming car routes; click again for outgoing routes. Other cars grey out. This documented 1.0.6 view also works on the game-over screen.
- If the message identifies an unreachable destination, follow No Route Available checks. Full 1.1.0 names that destination and marks it red. If routes exist but queues are growing, inspect the visible queue and last network change before choosing a local road or junction edit.
- On Easy or Medium, use an available temporary spawn helper for time or Money Credit for a funding shortage, then reassess the district. The sources do not establish a universal button location, duration or cooldown, so check its actual offer before using it.
After resuming, watch the affected queue and overload bar. A connected-looking road or a larger balance is not proof that the original queue can clear.
Choose pressure and assistance for a new city
| Choice | Documented boundary | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Easy / Medium | Developer describes temporary spawn relief and credit helpers. | You want the normal growing-city task with assistance for a difficult moment. |
| Hard | Those helpers are absent. Full 1.1.0 lists Hard among full-game features. | You deliberately want the stricter branch; do not expect the Demo’s Easy/Medium rescue options. |
| Custom rules | Demo 1.0.7 adds the panel when starting New City; individual rules can be harder than the selected difficulty. | You want specific harder rules. A name such as Easy +2 indicates custom changes, not a separate universal difficulty preset. |
| Creative | Full 1.1.0 confirms building without losing; Demo availability is not established. | You want to design a network without the run-ending pressure. |
Choose the relevant mode when starting the city. These sources do not establish an in-place difficulty conversion, a way to revive a lost run, or a Demo-to-full save transfer. The documented Demo offers Easy and Medium; keep older pre-release discussion of Hard separate.
If the district still fills up
Repeat the district’s incoming/outgoing inspection and record what changed after the local edit. If a destination is inaccessible, diagnose its physical road and permitted turns. If the failure is a road tool refusing an edit, use road-editing conditions. If a recent signal change is involved, compare the fields and version in signal timing and phase checks.
Do not spend credit on an assumed global traffic cure. The source material does not establish one optimum layout, an exact capacity formula or a guarantee that wider roads cure every district. If the warning persists, preserve its text, product/build, route view and before/after state for a specific report.
Immediate recovery succeeds when the affected queue drops and the overload warning clears after the simulation resumes. If the run has ended, the remaining useful outcome is a route diagnosis and an informed mode choice for the next city, rather than an invented undo of game over.
