Traffic Architect Keyboard Controls: Known PC Tool Keys
Find the Traffic Architect action first, then its documented key and tool below. B/T change crossing modes and levels, C changes curve mode, and Ctrl has different meanings for Upgrade and Parallel Road. This is a reference to the controls established by the reviewed sources, rather than a complete default key map. Mac modifier, camera and fullscreen alternatives have their own Mac controls guide.

German QWERTZ: Undo and the interchange loop-flip key
A November3 developer reply explains a layout-specific mismatch: Undo was bound to a physical key position, so the reported QWERTZ installation used Ctrl+Y while its hint said Ctrl+Z. The developer plans to make it follow the letter Z; that statement is not proof that every current build has already received the change. Check your actual build and result before repeating the command.
In the same reply, the interchange tool’s loop-flip action is Ä, without Shift, on the player’s German layout. Its displayed apostrophe hint was wrong. This is the loop-flip action inside the interchange tool, not a general road reversal key. The developer also says rebindable keys are planned, so do not search for a remapping menu based on that promise alone.
Keep the paused/eligible undo conditions. If the mismatch remains, report your layout, product/build, selected tool, displayed hint, key pressed and observed action. Original source: German keyboard bindings, complete question and sole developer reply read November3.
Action → documented key → detailed task
| Your action | Key / tool | Version and next check |
|---|---|---|
| Select bridge/tunnel and change its level | B / T; press the same key again to cycle that mode’s levels. | Demo 1.0.7: inspect the crossing preview; no numeric level order is established. |
| Switch Curve tool method | Press C again: Bend First / Ends First. | Demo 1.0.6: check the selected mode and preview. This is not the full-only Arc tool. |
| Choose demolition | Delete, like X. | Demo 1.0.7: check the target and any refusal before committing. |
| Upgrade only one end of a road | Hold Ctrl with Upgrade; end nearest the cursor. | October 3 Demo updates: partial-upgrade conditions; full 1.1.0 fixes specific short pieces. |
| Copy one piece instead of a whole chain | Ctrl with Parallel Road. | November 1 developer reply: copy pieces end-to-end; no two-point selector is established. |
| Reverse an eligible paused purchase | Ctrl+Z while paused. | October 3 Demo updates; 1.0.6 adds turn lanes and 1.0.7 adds return display/restoration details. Check eligibility and refunds. |
| Cycle map modes | Backtick (`). | Full 1.1.0; Demo parity unknown. This changes the map view, not the selected road tool. |
Use the reference without mixing tool modes
- Identify the goal and edition. If the needed key belongs to a newer full-only change, do not assume it exists in the Demo.
- Select the corresponding tool. A Ctrl operation in Upgrade selects a road end; Ctrl in Parallel Road selects a piece for copying.
- Read the linked task’s preconditions and inspect its preview. For undo, the paused/eligible-operation condition matters as much as the chord.
- Confirm the actual result. If the key selects a mode but the build is refused, continue with that task’s geometry/version checks.
Paused undo is documented, but these sources do not establish a pause key, all camera keys, a remapping menu, every tool shortcut or a complete keyboard-layout translation. Those entries are omitted rather than guessed.
Some important controls are tool actions
To connect an incoming lane to an outgoing lane, select the junction in Turn Restrictions and drag the lane-to-lane line; follow lane-connector steps and Apply checks. For the current alignment setting use Guidelines modes. A missing shortcut in this reference does not mean the action is unavailable.
The lookup succeeds when you have the documented key/tool for your action, its version boundary and the task’s result check. If your key does something else, preserve the product/build, operating system, selected tool and observed result for a specific report.
